I Don't Hate You
You know that I don’t hate you,
I don’t know that I can
Although I’d really like to -
I’m sure you understand
It seems if I could hate you
This might all go away.
Things might be much easier,
And I might not cry today.
I know I love you dearly,
But the hurt it just won’t stop.
I really believe that this time,
I’ve gone over the top.
I don’t like feeling helpless,
And I don’t like feeling weak.
So, I’m picking myself up again,
And walking down the street.
We shall go in different directions now,
You go left and I’ll go right.
But I hope and think that in the end,
I’ll be able to sleep tonight.
This isn’t easy and you may fight,
But it has come to this,
And deep down I know
That it is right.
You know that I don’t hate you,
I don’t know that I can.
Although I’d really like to -
I’m sure you understand.
