Midnight Moon
Snow flies
catches in her hair
as tears crystallize
on pale arms crossed
with head bowed upon
beneath a weeping willow
both creatures sob
as one
Midnight crow calls hoarsely
singing his own dark dirge
then rises on wings of fate
to soar above the moon
midnight moon
Mounting drifts
disguise a frail body
clad in naught but flesh
shivering despite surrender
for the soul can lose no more
yet craves no less
than release
Midnight calls her name
singing the dirge for her
all fighting ceased
she craves to join the moon
midnight moon
Shadow passes over
to judge a mourning beauty
reading only despair
in eyes that raise to his
and he sees that hope is lost
so now he is here
to claim
Midnight brings the freedom
singing a dirge of release
look within the blackness
call upon the moon
the midnight moon.
